Tuesday morning Adult Formation will meet Feb. 7th, 10:30AM in the

St. Mary’s Women’s Club
St. Mary's Women's Club has received the new Missals for Mass. If you
ordered one, please come back to the Gift Shop after Mass today to
pick it up. You might also find that perfect gift for Valentine's Day
or some other special occasion.
Blood Drive
The Knights of Columbus will again be hosting a Blood Drive at St.
Mary's on Thursday, February 2nd, from 2pm to 7pm in the social hall.
The sign-up sheets are located at the entrance of the church. The Red
Cross is counting on our help during this winter season. The process
is quick and easy, and your donation will give someone the Gift of
Life. For questions or more info, contact Rusty Bouton at 925-4656.
Coffee With Fr. Oscar!!
Our monthly gatherings will resume in the month of February.
Parishioners are invited to “Coffee with Fr. Oscar,”, February 8th,
6:30PM. Come and experience one of our Treasures of Faith – The Lord’s
Prayer (Part 1). Share faith and fellowship (refreshments will be
available at 6:15PM.) Invite a friend and come and explore this
special prayer.
Lenten Crosses
The Ladies Auxiliary will be selling the crosses for $5.00 each after
Masses starting Feb. 4th. All monies go to local charity
organizations. If you would like some ahead of time, please call
Elizabeth Lowe at 650-5517 or Dorothy Cogswell at 439-6809.
Youth Group News
All Faith Night with the Norfolk Admirals!
On Friday, February 17th, the Norfolk Admirals will host an All Faith
Night. The Admirals will face off against the Syracuse Crunch. The
hockey game will take place at the Norfolk Scope at 7:30 pm. All
parishioners and families are invited to attend. Red-level tickets are
$10 each. If you would like to attend, please RSVP to Donna Riley,
Coordinator of Youth Ministry, 934-2558. Payment arrangements can be
made at the time of RSVP. Checks should be made payable to St. Mary’s
Youth Group.
Steve Angrisano Concert
Sunday, February 19th, Steve Angrisano, a veteran musician, composer
and youth minister who has been featured at 6 World Youth Days,
several National Youth Conferences will be in concert at the Church of
St. Therese at 7:00. All parishioners and families are invited to
attend.Tickets are $15.00 per person. If you would like to attend,
please RSVP to Donna Riley, Coordinator of Youth Ministry, 934-2558.

Season For Nonviolence
The Hampton Roads Network for Nonviolence welcomes you to the Opening
Ceremony of the Season for Nonviolence – “Peace is Flowing Like a
River.” This special event will take place Monday, January 30th, 7PM,
at the Basilica of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception, 1000 Holt
Street, Norfolk. Come and open your heart to this important message in
our world today.
An Update From the Liturgy Committee
Please note the changes in time for Adoration and Benediction.
First Friday – Mass at 10:00 followed by Adoration of the Blessed
Sacrament, Benediction at 12:00 noon.
The Third Sunday of each Month – Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament
following Mass, Benediction at 2:00 PM.
Jesus waits for us in this Sacrament of love. Let us be generous with
our time in going to meet Him in adoration...............may our
adoration never cease.

February 3rd is the feast day of St Blaise, bishop and martyr. Many
Catholics hold him in special honor and have sought the annual St
Blaise blessing for the throats. Fr Oscar will be blessing the throats
of parishioners during the Saturday and Sunday Masses of February 4
&5.
Open House – Portsmouth Catholic
You are cordially invited to Portsmouth Catholic’s Open House on
Sunday, January 29th from 1:00p.m. to 3:00p.m. Please come and meet
their excellent, Virginia state certified teachers of grades PK3
through 8th Grade. Tours will be given to view classrooms,
state-of-the-art Technology Lab, Science Lab, Gym, Music Room, Art
Room and Library. Enrollment for the 2011-2012 school year begins on
January 30th for new students and families. Please call the parish
office for contact information.
