Altar Flowers This Weekend
The Altar Flowers this week are given by Donna Riley to the Glory
of God and in memory of her mother, Elizabeth Maniscalco.
St. Mary’s Nursery
We will be needing many new volunteers this year to help in the
Nursery. Please contact Noelle Kissell at 630-3820 for further
information.
Christian Formation
Christian Formation classes begin on September 12 at 9:30AM. All
parents and children will meet in the church. Registration paperwork
is available at the church entrance and on the website. The paperwork
may be brought in with payment on the 12th.
Confirmation Meeting
There will be a Confirmation meeting and social for both youth and
parents on Sunday, September 12 at Good Shepherd. This potluck is from
5 to 7PM.
Scripture Study
Scripture Study begins, Tuesday, Sept. 14th, 10:30AM, in the Fr.
Tommy Nee Social Hall. We will read and reflect upon the Gospel of
John. This week: John 1:1-34. Come and join our group!
New Parishioners
If you are new to our parish, please take a moment to register. Forms
are available in the vestibule of the church (if unable to locate
forms the ushers will be glad to assist you). We would like to welcome
you to our parish family!
St. Mary’s Yard Sale
St. Mary’s Yard Sale is this upcoming weekend, September 10th and
11th. Please bring your gently used clothing and household items to
the Fr. Nee Social Hall, Thursday, September 9th from 9AM to noon and
6-8PM. Your donations are appreciated and proceeds from the sale will
be donated to the church to help cover the cost of the new security
system.
St. Mary’s Women’s Club
St. Mary’s Women’s Club will meet September 15, 2010 at 7PM in the
Fr. Nee Social Hall. All women of the parish are invited. We would
love for you to join us for fellowship in the spirit of supporting our
Parish and Community.
Respect Life Committee
The next Respect Life Committee meeting will be on Sept. 12,
following 11AM Mass. We will link up in the social hall, but the
actual meeting location is TBO. Everyone is welcome – please join us!
Baby Items Needed!
The Respect Life Committee has placed a donation box in the social
hall to collect baby items on an ongoing basis. All items will be
donated to the Keim Center of Suffolk (Crisis Pregnancy Center.) The
Keim Center is in need of new and gently used baby and maternity
items. Diapers (all sizes), wipes, baby hygiene products, bassinets
and gift bags are especially needed. If you have larger item or
quantities to donate and need assistance, please contact Ann Harris at
372-6884. Thank You!
Ladies Auxiliary Council 7363
The Ladies Auxiliary extends an open invitation to all wives, mothers,
daughters, sisters and widows of the Knights of Columbus to our next
meeting, Monday, September 13th, 7PM, in the Fr. Thomas Nee Social
Hall. Please call Liz (650-5517) or Maggie (923-5809).
Choir News
Youth of the parish, in ages thirteen and up are invited to share
their musical talents at Christmas Eve Mass. Singers and
instrumentalists are asked to contact Tammy Simons at 986-4230 or show
up for a brief tryout session on September 25th at 9AM. Music will be
distributed on this date also. Instrumentalists should bring a piece
of music to perform and singers should come prepared to sing a
Christmas hymn. You must attend several practices and be able to be at
church on Christmas Eve by 3:30APM.
Knights of Columbus Football
Sweepstakes
The Knights of Columbus will be selling Discount Cards with over 200
offers worth thousands of dollars in savings. This will automatically
enter you into the Football Frenzy Sweepstakes which will run for 10
weeks during the pro football season. It’s a fun way to follow
America’s favorite sport and $1000 in prizes will be awarded each
week. Discount Cards will be sold for $10 each and are good until
3/31/11 and enter you in a chance to win Football Frenzy for 10 weeks.

Fall Seminar
Fall Seminar 2010: Becoming Christ’s Friends with St. Teresa of Jesus
(Avila), by Discalced Carmelite friar, Rev. David Centner, OCD, on
September 25, 2010, from 9:45AM – 3PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church,
512 Buckroe Ave., Hampton. VA. Admission is free. Please bring a bag
lunch. Free-will offerings are greatly appreciated. For further
